Volunteering is a great action in our society. It allows us to get involved in our community and help people in need. It is an invaluable experience. I have volunteered when I was young. The purpose was to welcome the students on their first day of school. My friend joined me to do this activity. I really enjoyed my experience and I would do it again. There were about twenty students volunteering that day. The volunteers would come to school instead of their dead-end job, to come help out. They weren’t paid a premium wage for their work, but they had an in-depth recommendation made out for them. Some were skeptical, but others took it as an opportunity. There are many advantages and disadvantages related to volunteering. One advantage is that you get more work experience, and sometimes you can work abroad. A disadvantage would be that it takes a lot of time out of your day.

I have been working in a specialty store in Montreal where we sell different construction products for the past year. My tasks are to manage the store, to take care of product quality and to prepare orders. I also train trainees the ins-and-outs of how to use the cash register, scan inventory, help employees without bias, etc. The drawback is that the OJT usually lasts around 1 week and the wage is lower than the usual wage. This drawback is mandatory to make sure that the trainee understands the tasks to mitigate mistakes. After the training, the trainees become employees and are given tasks to accomplish around the store like answering the phone, taking inventory, cleaning the department, etc. Senior employees are given management tasks like working the cash register, preparing orders, helping clients with their products, etc.

Hi, my name is Florence. I'm a very organized student with good time management skills. I make sure that my schoolwork is very thorough to maximize my grades. That has led me to get straight A's in most of my classes during the past years though at times my grades could be lower than I expect which is quite maddening. Usually, I spend most of my time outside of school either doing school work or prepping for important exams. I put aside my hobbies to concentrate on school to not do cursory homework. This year, I have to apply to university, which means I have to apply myself twice as much to get better chances at getting accepted at my preferred university. To pull off this, I have reduced my job hours to increase my studying time which is very thoughtful. When I was in grade eleven, I helped my friends to study for their exams and they all pulled off.  Hi, my name is Florence, I am 18 years old and right now I am studying at Ahuntsic College. I have been studying Social Sciences in the individual program for the last 3 semesters. Most of my classes are focused on psychology, but my goal is to go to Law School at the University of Montreal after my DEC and eventually become a lawyer. There is a lot of competition in my program, so I will have to work very hard. I would like to study criminal law because it's more challenging. I’ve had the chance to shadow a lawyer when I was in high school, and it was a really compelling learning experience. I was able to learn a lot about the profession and its challenges. That internship solidified my career choice.
